Fr. John is a native Tucsonan and has spent most of his life here in this city. After high school, he went through the carpenter apprenticeship and became a journeyman carpenter. After a few years, he returned to college and was employed by a local utility company in town for nearly twenty years. Then, in 2012, Bishop Kicanas sent him to Sacred Heart Seminary in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. In 2018, after earning a Master of Arts in Divinity, he was ordained a priest by Bishop Weisenburger for the Diocese of Tucson.
When it comes to the church, Fr. John is continually amazed by God's love for His people, how He never fails to show Himself when we need Him the most, and how His plans for us are always more remarkable and more excellent than those we have for ourselves. All we need to do is live a life of prayer, holiness, and the sacraments; and He will do the rest as He fills us with the joy, peace, and happiness in this life and in the one to come.
Fr. John is delighted to be here at Our Mother of Sorrows and experience the many gifts our community brings in our mission of serving all of God's people. Each day is an opportunity to help those God places in our path and to witness God working in our everyday lives. "As a priest, I get to be with Christ in the Mass, confessional, or one of the other life-giving sacraments. So, my best advice to anyone who will listen is to remember that we never bring Christ to anyone; instead, we meet him there."
